Assurance Intern – Winter 2028 (Fort Worth) | BDO USA

The Tone:
This is an internship at BDO USA, located in Fort Worth, TX. BDO is a firm that provides assurance, tax, and advisory services to clients across the U.S. and globally, helping them navigate complexity and grow with confidence. As an intern, you will contribute to this mission by assisting the firm’s dynamic client base, gaining a unique hands-on perspective on our practices and people. This role is crucial for developing foundational skills and forging critical relationships that will support your success in a professional accounting career.

The TL;DR

• Location: In-person, Fort Worth, TX
• Pay: $32–$45 hourly
• Mission: This person assists audit staff with various stages of the audit process and provides support functions, helping the firm’s clients grow with confidence.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Learn Audit: Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), and BDO’s specific audit methodology.
• Support Engagements: Provide various support functions to audit staff during engagements and assist with different stages of the audit process.
• Client Communication: Communicate with clients’ customers, creditors, banks, and related parties concerning audit issues.
• Document Work: Prepare and document work in working papers utilizing BDO’s specific tools and templates.
• Research and Present: Complete one assigned accounting or audit-related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting; actively pursuing school credits to become a CPA.
• Experience: This is an entry-level role; leadership experience is preferred.
• Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to follow instructions as directed, and the capacity to work effectively in a team setting with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Bonus: Pursuing a master’s degree in Accounting is preferred.
