The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, requiring four days in an MUFG office or client sites and one remote day per week. MUFG is a top-ranked global leader in project finance, specializing in large-scale asset financing across energy, natural resources, infrastructure, and power sectors. This role is crucial for originating and structuring complex debt financing solutions for corporate and government clients. Your contributions will directly support clients in acquiring, building, or recapitalizing critical assets, reinforcing MUFG’s market leadership and fostering sustainable growth.

• Team: Project Finance team, reporting to a Managing Director and collaborating with Debt Capital Markets and Global Markets teams.
• Mission: Originating and structuring financing for large-scale energy and infrastructure projects to support corporate and government clients.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Originate and structure financing for specific large-scale energy and infrastructure projects for corporate and government clients or long-term alternative energy related projects.
• Conduct extensive marketing activities for project finance, identifying and sourcing lending and non-lending opportunities that align with MUFG’s business objectives.
• Perform thorough credit analyses and due diligence on new business opportunities.
• Guide deals effectively through the closing process and ensure a smooth transition to the portfolio group.
• Refer business opportunities to MUFG US and participate in special projects as required by the Managing Director.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field, with extensive product knowledge and expertise in project finance within energy and infrastructure.
• Experience: 10+ years of project finance experience, leading the origination and structuring of deals across commercial bank, institutional loan, and 144A/USPP markets, including natural resource (midstream, LNG, petrochemical, refining) and new energies (alternative fuels, carbon capture) sectors, and leading project finance advisory.
• Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills; capacity to consistently communicate professionally, tactfully, and effectively with clients, third-party advisors, and colleagues; demonstrated ability to work under pressure in a high-intensity environment, managing and prioritizing multiple workflows with attention to detail and accuracy; familiarity with the “big picture” to anticipate workflow proactively.
