Accountant | Dexian
The Tone:
This is a fully remote role at Dexian. The company seeks an experienced and self-motivated Accountant to ensure the accuracy of financial records for multiple organizations. This position supports robust internal controls and ensures compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The Accountant’s work empowers client organizations to focus on their primary missions by managing critical accounting functions effectively.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Record Keeping & AP/AR: Systematically record all transaction details, organize supporting documentation, and manage accounts payable and receivable by processing and disbursing invoices.
• Financial Statement & Ledger Maintenance: Prepare precise and timely financial statements, reflecting assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and tax obligations, while maintaining and updating the general ledger and supporting sub-ledgers.
• Account Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and investment accounts to ensure accuracy.
• Grant & Budget Management: Review grant documentation, track expenses, monitor budgets in accordance with grant agreements, and support the allocation of monthly expenses across various funding sources.
• Compliance, Audit & Client Support: Prepare financial documentation for grant submissions and funder reporting, assist external auditors, participate in internal control evaluations, file required tax forms, and aid clients with budget development, forecasts, and variance analysis while communicating effectively with them.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates should possess extensive knowledge of accrual-based accounting and cost accounting principles, coupled with a strong understanding of and compliance with GAAP standards. Prior experience specifically in nonprofit accounting is required for this role.
• Experience: Proven ability to effectively manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously. High proficiency in QuickBooks Online is essential, alongside practical experience with various payroll processing platforms.
• Skills: Demonstrated excellent organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary for effective client and vendor interactions. The ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote setting is crucial, complemented by proficiency with MS Excel and robust overall computer skills capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance is preferred. Candidates with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in accounting and finance will also be strongly considered.
