Staff Accountant | IACMI – The Composites Institute

The Tone:
This is a full-time hybrid role at IACMI – The Composites Institute, with a primary need for candidates to be near Knoxville, TN, or residing in specific eligible states. IACMI, managed by Collaborative Composite Solutions Corporation, is a national leader and collaborative partner focused on advanced composites design, manufacturing, technical innovation, and workforce solutions. This role is crucial for supporting the daily accounting operations and month-end processes of a national public-private partnership, contributing to U.S. manufacturing competitiveness.

• Team: Reports to the Corporate Financial Controller and works closely with CCS headquarters functional area teams.
• Mission: This person ensures efficient daily accounting processes, month-end reconciliations, and timely client billings to support the financial operations of IACMI.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office, MS Excel, Asana

What You’ll Actually Do
• Daily Processes: Perform daily accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash receipts, while also supporting payroll and client billing functions.
• Client Billing: Prepare and submit monthly client billings, compiling all necessary supporting documents for attachment.
• Month-End Activities: Conduct various month-end processes and reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Team Coordination: Coordinate closely with the accounting team to meet month-end closing deadlines and track assigned tasks in Asana.
• Process Improvement & Support: Provide suggestions for process improvement, assist in supplying documents to external auditors, and support special projects or ad hoc reporting.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, with equivalent work experience considered as an alternative.
• Experience: Experience with Microsoft Office, including advanced proficiency in MS Excel, and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote, paperless environment.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, ability to quickly learn various accounting functions, capacity to manage tasks from start to finish, understanding of complex general ledger coding and project account structures, and working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Bonus: Experience with accounting for government contractors is preferred.
