Management Trainee | Dematic
The Tone:
This is a full-time Management Trainee role at Dematic, a 9,386-person organization specializing in designing, building, and supporting intelligent automated solutions for warehouses, manufacturing plants, and distribution centers. This critical development position provides hands-on experience in project execution and leadership by offering direct support to the VP, Installation, Business Solutions, Americas, and the Installation Leadership team. This structured 24-month program is specifically designed to prepare the trainee for progression into an Installation, Project, or line management role within the company.

• Mission: To provide critical support to installation leadership and gain hands-on experience, preparing the individual for progression into Installation, Project, or line management roles within a structured 24-month development program.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Team Communication: Serve as a key point of contact for the Installation Leadership team, facilitating internal and external communications to ensure smooth information flow.
• Meeting Coordination: Coordinate and manage all installation leadership meetings, encompassing agenda development, detailed progress reporting, comprehensive schedule reviews, productivity tracking, and meticulous action item management.
• Operational Support: Provide extensive administrative and operational support tied to installation and construction execution, which includes coordinating field resources, planning logistics, and traveling to job sites as needed.
• Reporting & Presentation: Assist in the preparation of installation reviews, construction schedules, efficiency dashboards, and executive leadership presentations, consistently utilizing standardized reporting formats and tools.
• Improvement Initiatives: Support continuous improvement initiatives specifically focused on enhancing installation efficiency, optimizing labor productivity, achieving schedule compression, and implementing best-practice construction methods.
• Special Projects: Participate in specialized projects involving construction scheduling, installation systems, labor strategies, and the deployment of pioneering construction management methods and tools, such as Advanced Work Packaging.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical field is required. This role is a structured 24-month development position designed to prepare candidates for progression into management.
• Experience: Possess 2–3 years of experience in managing construction projects, coordinating tasks, installation, or other related execution-focused roles, demonstrating exposure to construction scheduling, site execution support, installation coordination, or field operations.
• Skills: Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate field execution data into clear, leadership-ready insights; exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities; the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks effectively in a hands-on installation and construction environment; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Microsoft Project, and Smartsheet with an emphasis on schedule tracking, data analysis, and executive reporting; and a solid understanding of construction management processes, installation planning, and productivity improvement methodologies.
• Bonus: Prior experience using or supporting construction management systems, scheduling tools, or methods for tracking efficiency is preferred. Field experience as a Supervisor, Superintendent, Foreman, or other frontline field leadership role is strongly preferred. Prior military experience with demonstrated leadership responsibility (including enlisted leadership roles) is considered a strong asset. Coursework or practical experience in construction planning, scheduling, labor efficiency, or lean construction methods is a plus.
