General Accountant | Sage Hospitality Group
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Sage Hospitality Group, located in Philadelphia, PA at The Logan Hotel. Sage Hospitality Group operates a collection of hotels and restaurants, blending urban energy with curated luxury, exemplified by The Logan Hotel’s refined service and bespoke experiences. The General Accountant plays a vital role in maintaining the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the property’s accounting functions, directly supporting the delivery of exceptional hospitality experiences.
The TL;DR

• Location: In-person, Philadelphia, PA
• Team: Reports to the Controller and Assistant Controller within the hotel’s finance department.
• Mission: To maintain the property’s accounting functions (Income Audit, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll System, and General Cashier) in a timely, accurate manner in accordance with accounting policies and procedures.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Income Audit: Process the daily income audit in conjunction with night auditors and department managers to maximize revenues and ensure accuracy of postings.
• Accounts Management: Work closely with sales managers to ensure accurate and timely group billing, and follow up with and manage the hotel’s Accounts Receivable aging.
• Payroll & Reporting: Process payroll to meet compliance standards and deadlines, input and reconcile daily tip reporting, and create and deliver daily revenue reports to department managers, following up on discrepancies.
• Financial Analysis & Reconciliation: Balance, reconcile, and close various daily accounts, prepare daily statements for management, and analyze financial data to resolve discrepancies, providing recommendations for changes and efficiencies.
• Compliance & Training: Assist in training other departments on accounting practices to ensure understanding of SOPs and compliance audit requirements, maintaining proper controls.
The Must-Haves
• Background: One to two years of post-high school education, with a thorough knowledge of accounting practices and procedures within the hospitality profession.
• Experience: One year of experience in a similar role; an accounting background is preferred but not required.
• Skills: Ability to compile facts and figures, intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word), ability to understand and follow verbal/written instructions, and effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Ability to investigate and analyze current activities, highly organized, and ability to make decisions based on general policies and procedures.
