Operations Management Trainee – Manufacturing | National Safety Apparel
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at National Safety Apparel, located in Fort Pierce, FL. The Warren Heim Division, based in Fort Pierce, FL, manufactures canvas and vinyl bags and specialty products, committed to craftsmanship and innovation to keep American workers safe. This leadership-track position provides comprehensive exposure to both office and hands-on manufacturing operations, preparing the trainee for future leadership roles within the organization. The role is critical for supporting the company’s mission by learning to make operational decisions that impact both efficiency and quality.

• Mission: This person supports the organization’s operational efficiency and quality by gaining comprehensive exposure to manufacturing processes and office functions, preparing for future leadership.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Order and Production Planning: Enter customer orders into the ERP system and invoice orders after shipment, contributing to accurate record-keeping and billing.
• Procurement and Inventory Management: Update raw material planning tools using ERP and Excel reports to make purchasing decisions and issue purchase orders to suppliers.
• Customer Relations: Perform various customer service tasks, including providing ETAs, answering product questions, handling RFQs, and supporting new product development initiatives.
• Hands-On Manufacturing Support: Engage directly in core manufacturing processes such as cutting, parts kitting, screen printing, sewing, and shipping/receiving, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
• Operational Improvement: Complete special projects directed by the Director of Operations, including digitizing item-specific documentation and conducting time studies for manpower planning and costing.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree required, forming a foundational understanding for an operations leadership-track role.
• Experience: 1-2 years of prior manufacturing, production, or ERP experience is preferred, offering a head start in operational processes.
• Skills: High understanding of computer skills, commitment to high-quality output, adaptability, teamwork, and strong problem-solving abilities are essential.
• Bonus: Forklift Certification preferred.
