AIX Senior System Administrator | FIS

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at FIS, with 24/7 rotational shifts, supporting a global team. FIS provides comprehensive retirement solutions and technology services to plan providers worldwide. This role is crucial for maintaining the stability and performance of the underlying AIX infrastructure that powers these critical financial services, enabling clients’ growth. As part of a collaborative team, you’ll contribute to addressing challenging technical issues in financial technology.

• Mission: To install, maintain, and enhance AIX systems that support FIS’s retirement solutions, ensuring high reliability and performance across all environments.
• Tech Stack: AIX 6.1/7.1, VCS Clustering, Linux, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible

What You’ll Actually Do
• System Management: Install, maintain, upgrade, build, and configure internal computer hardware and software systems used for designing and developing company products.
• System Enhancements & Strategy: Propose and implement system enhancements to improve reliability and performance, monitoring usage, training personnel, and researching/evaluating new hardware/software products.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Troubleshoot server, software, and hardware issues, provide day-to-day UNIX/AIX operating system and break-fix support, including patching and 24/7 rotational coverage.
• Security & Access: Control user access and passwords, perform security-related tasks, and maintain a secure systems environment.
• Operational Compliance: Abide by Incident, Change, and Problem Management procedures, including complying with Service Level Agreements, and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures for BAU support.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Senior-level career professional with proven knowledge of fundamental concepts and technologies associated with AIX Operating Systems (Hardware, Software).
• Experience: Minimum 7 to 10 years of experience in AIX 6.1/7.1, with proficiency in day-to-day UNIX/AIX operating system tasks, break-fix support, configuration, and troubleshooting. Expertise in OS backups, patching, and OS clustering, partitioning, and virtualization is required.
• Skills: AIX (Installation, Customization, Operation, Recovery, Performance Tuning), VCS Clustering and High Availability Management, Storage Migrations, Linux Systems.
• Bonus: DevOps skills including Kubernetes, Docker, and Ansible.
