Payroll Specialist I | Hawaii Human Resources (HiHR)

The Tone:
This is a client-facing service role at ProService, a Hawaii-based PEO combining payroll, HR, and benefits expertise with purpose-built technology. The role involves managing a portfolio of Hawaii-based businesses, serving as their primary payroll contact. When payroll runs right, clients feel it, and this role is the first line of trust in that visible promise. The person in this position takes personal responsibility for getting details right every cycle, keeping clients informed, and genuinely well-served.

• Mission: To ensure accurate, timely payroll and provide proactive client service, solving issues before they arise for Hawaii-based businesses.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Process: Accurately and timely process payroll for a portfolio of Hawaii-based clients across multiple cycles and pay frequencies.
• Service: Serve as the primary point of contact for your client portfolio, responding to inquiries within 4 business hours and keeping clients informed.
• Resolve: Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies before they reach clients, maintaining a 99.5%+ accuracy rate.
• Manage: Handle competing priorities and strict deadlines across multiple client accounts simultaneously without sacrificing quality.
• Document: Clearly document cases, meet SLA milestone targets, and maintain clean records across systems.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. A track record of accuracy under pressure and comfort with financial transactions and compliance logic. No prior payroll experience is required.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced, client-facing or transactional role, such as banking, financial services, or benefits administration, where precision and direct client accountability were daily expectations.
• Skills: Strong service foundation, high personal accountability, organizational discipline to manage multiple client accounts, proactive communication, adaptability to quickly learn new systems, and ownership of results.
