Audit Intern | MaloneBailey, LLP

The Tone:
This is an Audit Intern position at MaloneBailey, LLP, located in Houston, TX. MaloneBailey is a PCAOB-registered public accounting firm, founded in 1982, that provides audit and accounting services to a substantial number of public company clients worldwide. This role is crucial for an individual to acquire fundamental competence, skills, and judgment in accounting principles and auditing procedures, contributing to the firm’s specialized client services.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Familiarization: Become familiar with pronouncements of the Financial Accounting Standards Boards and AICPA, alongside auditing financial statements.
• Engagement Exposure: Obtain exposure on the types of financial statement engagements offered by the Firm.
• Audit Execution: Complete various segments of audits under supervision and execute day-to-day activities of audit engagements for multiple clients.
• Communication: Communicate auditing matters and problems to Staff, Senior Associates, Managers and Partners as necessary.
• Firm Integration: Become oriented with the Firm’s practices, policies, and culture, performing other duties as required.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level professional holding a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or actively pursuing one, with foundational knowledge of business, technology, or audit principles.
• Experience: 0-3 years of recent work experience in the field of accounting, preferably as an auditor at a public accounting firm.
• Skills: Excellent project management, analytical, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software programs, including spreadsheet programs (Excel).
• Bonus: Enrollment in an advanced degree program is preferred. B or above in all accounting and accounting-related courses, along with a satisfactory cumulative and major GPA, are also preferred.
