Manager Trainee | J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc.

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc., with travel and potential for regional relocation required. What You’ll Actually Do
• Cultivate Relationships: Learn to build and maintain professional relationships with drivers and external carriers to ensure seamless operations and maximize productivity.
• Optimize Operations: Develop proficiency in maximizing fleet efficiency and profitability, making recommendations for continuous improvement and measuring key performance indicators.
• Manage Assets: Gain knowledge on how to manage inventory, physical assets, customer pools, and driver assignments to balance equipment effectively within the market.
• Perform Administrative Duties: Train to execute critical administrative tasks including payroll, budget management, driver counseling, accident reviews, and creating operational or financial reports.
• Resolve Service Issues: Learn to collaborate with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service, routing, planning, and mechanical problems, including providing on-call support.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level position requiring a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Experience: Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations; ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends; willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment.
• Skills: Knowledge of DOT regulations; ability to plan, route, and monitor freight movement; capability to provide best-in-class customer service; foundational understanding of personnel management and driver training; capacity for financial analysis including P&L statements and budgeting.
• Bonus: Experience managing a team; ability to anticipate, recognize, and effectively address conflicts; capability to accurately analyze situations and make productive decisions; adaptability to changing environments; skill in establishing and maintaining healthy working relationships; commitment to meeting team/driver needs and expectations; effective communication skills; aptitude for recognizing and resolving operational or process problems.
