Summer 2027 Jr. Research Analyst Internship | General Dynamics Information Technology
The Tone:
This is a full-time, paid internship within General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), located remotely anywhere in the United States. GDIT is a global technology and professional services company, comprised of 26,000 experts who deliver advanced technology solutions and mission-critical services. We partner with every major agency across the U.S. government, defense, and intelligence community, operating in over 50 countries worldwide, offering leading capabilities in AI, cloud, cyber, and software development. This 10-week program is designed to immerse interns in a collaborative team environment, contributing to securing and supporting some of the most complex government, defense, and intelligence projects. Interns will work side-by-side with GDIT professionals and play a vital role in researching and analyzing data to help solve clients’ most challenging matters.
The TL;DR

• Mission: Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of policy and regulatory guidance to identify risks and opportunities within federal programs, developing recommendations to support complex government, defense, and intelligence projects for the U.S. government, defense, and intelligence community.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Administrative Support: Perform administrative duties to effectively support departmental or customer operations on a short-term, seasonal basis.
• Research and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive research, analysis, development, and evaluation of systems, procedures, and data within an assigned functional area.
• Policy Assessment: Conduct detailed research across a wide variety of policy and coverage areas to accurately assess potential risks and opportunities in federal programs.
• Risk Mitigation: Collaborate closely with the team to thoroughly assess risks, develop robust mitigation strategies, and meticulously document and present findings to customers.
• Strategic Recommendations: Synthesize complex policy and regulatory guidance to formulate and present both written and verbal recommendations to senior leadership.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in International Affairs or Public Policy. Applicants must have a minimum of one semester of studies remaining after the conclusion of the 10-week internship program.
• Experience: 0+ years of related experience.
• Skills: Analytical Thinking, Microsoft Excel, Researching, Microsoft Word, general computer proficiency.
• Bonus: Demonstrated interest in public policy and global relations; an ability and interest in synthesizing information and data effectively; basic knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in relevant scientific functional areas; and basic knowledge of related equipment and systems in those areas.
