Vice President, Asset Based Finance Group (ABF) Portfolio Management | Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group

The Tone:
This is a hybrid role at Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), working four days in the office or at client sites and one day remotely. The Asset-Based Finance (ABF) group delivers comprehensive capabilities to North American clients, including origination, underwriting, and portfolio management. This role is crucial for overseeing a portfolio of asset-based lending clients across the U.S., continuously evaluating their creditworthiness and collateral, and supporting revenue growth.

• Mission: Manage and grow a portfolio of asset-based lending clients while ensuring ongoing creditworthiness, collateral adequacy, and supporting revenue growth efforts.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Monitor: Oversee borrower financial performance and collateral adequacy at the borrowing base level on an ongoing basis.
• Evaluate: Prepare detailed written credit analyses and applications, assessing loan purpose, structure, liquidity, asset protection, and risk.
• Drive Growth: Contribute to revenue goals by collaborating with internal teams on cross-sell initiatives and leading pitch presentations.
• Manage Risk: Closely monitor troubled credits, recommend appropriate actions, and address issues related to bankruptcy and collateral liquidation.
• Act as Agent: Manage bank group activities, including addressing client needs, structuring solutions, negotiating terms, and facilitating communication among participants.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree, ideally with a business major, and senior-level expertise in corporate banking, specifically in asset-based lending.
• Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant corporate banking experience, with proven ability to manage problem loans and restructuring activities, including bankruptcies and liquidations. Extensive working knowledge of secured lending issues, lien laws, and the ability to negotiate loan documentation independently.
• Skills: Secured lending expertise covering collateral analysis, intercreditor issues, cash dominion, and ABL credit exposure; high-level legal and negotiation skills; strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities; excellent verbal and written communication skills; and effective organizational abilities.
• Bonus: A CFA Level 1, 2 or 3 certification or an MBA.
