Fleet Operations Lead (Swing) | Lyft
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Flexdrive, a subsidiary of Lyft, located in Nashville, TN. Lyft aims to serve and connect by cultivating an inclusive work environment where all team members can thrive. Flexdrive is at the forefront of revolutionizing transportation by building the operational backbone for autonomous vehicle (AV) fleets, leveraging expertise to enter the AV space through strategic partnerships. This role is critical for pioneering a new chapter, starting with the first AV depot, by serving as the primary on-shift leader to ensure comprehensive safety compliance and operational efficiency for a 24/7 AV depot.

• Mission: This person solves the challenge of leading day-shift operations, ensuring comprehensive safety compliance, and maintaining high team performance for Lyft’s autonomous vehicle depot.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Shift Leadership: Lead and optimize all assigned shift operations, managing team performance, task allocation, and ensuring fleet availability targets are met.
• Safety & Compliance: Implement Safety Risk Management Programs, ensure all depot operations meet OSHA, EPA, and partner-specific EHS standards, and maintain AV regulatory compliance documentation.
• Incident Response: Command incident response within a 30-minute SLA, conducting root cause analysis, implementing corrective actions, and submitting preliminary reports within 24 hours.
• Training & Quality: Oversee personnel training compliance, coordinate and deliver safety-specific training, and conduct regular audits of standard operating procedures.
• Operational Excellence: Monitor and optimize KPIs including vehicle uptime and fleet utilization, manage third-party vendor relationships, and ensure seamless 24/7 operational continuity through effective communication.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Experienced in operational management within safety-critical environments (transportation, logistics, automotive, or manufacturing preferred), coupled with expertise in safety management, EHS compliance, or risk management.
• Experience: 2+ years in operational management roles and 3+ years in safety management, with a proven track record of leading teams in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments while maintaining strict safety and quality standards. Demonstrated expertise in regulatory compliance, audit management, and maintaining documentation for compliance verification, alongside a strong understanding of fleet operations, vehicle maintenance workflows, and logistics management in multi-shift environments.
• Skills: Exceptional communication skills for interfacing with multiple stakeholders, strong incident response and root cause analysis capabilities, effective team leadership, and proficiency in vendor coordination and compliance assurance. Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Bonus: OSHA 30-hour certification preferred or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
