The Manager in Training plays a key part in guiding staff and upholding company policies and standards.

• Mission: Assist the Store Manager in overall store operations and administrative duties to achieve goals and ensure profitability while providing outstanding customer service.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations & Profitability: Assist the Store Manager in overseeing overall store operations and administrative duties, maintaining awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability across all departments. This includes protecting company assets and financial information by ensuring internal control procedures are accurate.
• Strategic Planning & Merchandising: Consult with the Store Manager to establish and execute action plans for departmental and store-wide responsibilities, including selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling, while being knowledgeable in each product area.
• Interim Store Leadership & Staff Direction: Assume full responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence, directing staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed. This includes keeping the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
• Supervisory Responsibilities: Carry out supervisory duties such as training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, and resolving problems, in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
• Customer Service & Policy Adherence: Serve as an ambassador of Hibbett | City Gear by providing extraordinary customer service, promoting and selling merchandise and services, and upholding all company policies, procedures, and standards listed in various manuals and memos.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager in Training level role with foundational knowledge of retail operations, specifically within footwear and athletic apparel environments.
• Experience: 1-3 years of proven customer service experience, coupled with an ability to assist in managing a team and supervising employees in a retail setting. This includes experience with planning, assigning, and directing work.
• Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with both customers and staff, strong attention to detail for administrative and operational tasks, and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with precision.
• Bonus: Is a self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked, demonstrates a team-player attitude, and is enthusiastic about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
