Manager Trainee | 84 Lumber

The Tone:
This is a full-time Manager Trainee position at 84 Lumber, located in multiple US locations. 84 Lumber is a family-owned company, recognized as the nation’s largest privately held supplier of building materials, manufactured components, and industry-leading services for residential and commercial construction. The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Full-time (48+ hours/week, overtime included)
• Location: In-person, Multiple US Locations (relocation required)
• Mission: Train and develop individuals to assume leadership and management roles within 84 Lumber’s store operations, promoting internal growth and career progression.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, and other relevant applications for business management).

What You’ll Actually Do
• Customer Engagement & Sales: Drive sales and provide comprehensive support to customers in a retail store environment.
• Inventory & Logistics: Oversee the material and supply chain flow, manage stock levels, and optimize product merchandising within the store.
• Project Estimation: Interpret blueprints and accurately create material estimates essential for various building projects.
• Equipment Operations: Safely operate heavy machinery, including forklifts, and obtain necessary certifications for material handling.
• Business Operations Management: Master critical business functions such as payroll processing, invoicing, inventory control, and financial analysis.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level position. Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience: Availability to work a full-time schedule of 48+ hours per week, including overtime. No prior work experience is required.
• Skills: Ability to interpret and analyze common financial reports; Proficiency in reading blueprints and creating accurate material lists; Competence in managing payroll, invoicing, inventory, and point-of-sale (POS) systems; Capacity to respond effectively to customer inquiries and complaints.
• Bonus: Willingness to relocate for promotion into a management position; Previous experience with Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
