Sheriff’s Office-Investigations Detective | Park County Government

• Team: Works within the Sheriff’s Office investigations division, collaborating with other investigators and reporting to a Detective Sergeant.
• Mission: Solves and prevents crimes, addresses narcotics trafficking, and manages related law enforcement problems through specialized investigative work.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Investigate Major Crimes: Responds to and supervises major crime scenes, leading investigations and diligently searching for and preserving forensic and physical evidence.
• Conduct Follow-Up Investigations: Performs skilled investigative work on alleged crimes against persons and property, ensuring all necessary follow-up actions are completed.
• Execute Surveillance & Undercover Operations: Performs surveillance duties and patrols in civilian clothing, develops and maintains informative contacts, and conducts undercover investigations as necessary.
• Foster Inter-Agency Collaboration: Liaises with internal department members and external law enforcement agencies within and outside the county, facilitating information exchange for criminal investigations.
• Provide Field Training: Mentors and provides on-the-job training to other investigators, sergeants, and deputies during the course of conducting investigations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess current POST certification in the State of Colorado; hold a valid Colorado Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record; demonstrate knowledge of proper law enforcement principles, procedures, practices, and criminal investigation methods.
• Experience: Three years of progressively responsible law enforcement related experience.
• Skills: Ability to make timely decisions under critical or stressful situations; capacity to understand and exchange verbal and written instructions and maintain a calm demeanor when dealing with distressed individuals; proficiency in the use of law enforcement vehicles, firearms, related equipment, and self-defense techniques.
