Cafe General Manager | Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, Inc
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, Inc, located in San Diego (Point Loma), CA. The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: Full-Time (35-40 hours/week)
• Location: In-person, San Diego (Point Loma), CA
• Team: Reports to Regional Operations Manager
• Mission: Owns leading cafe operations and team development to deliver exceptional coffee experiences and drive business goals.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Customer Experience: Exemplify customer service expectations as a role model and ensure the delivery of an exceptional coffee product.
• Team Leadership: Coach, train, interview, and hire cafe-level team members, and lead corrective action conversations and implement disciplinary measures.
• Operational Management: Create and manage weekly schedules based on sales trends, accurately take inventory to place orders, and communicate with the maintenance team regarding equipment.
• Business Growth: Collaborate with the Regional Operations Manager to meet sales goals, manage labor within targets, and ensure high productivity and results.
• Employee Development: Create development plans for employees to grow their skills, perform second-day training for new hires, and lead staff meetings with intent.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager level, with core domain knowledge in cafe/food service and specialty coffee operations.
• Experience: 2-3 years of Supervisor Experience, 1+ years of Management experience, and previous hiring and interviewing experience.
• Skills: Multi-tasking, people management & communication, problem-solving, cash handling, employee scheduling and labor management, and experience with corrective action and disciplinary processes.
• Bonus: Cafe/food service experience (2-3 years), Retail/customer service experience (4 years), Specialty coffee knowledge (1-2 years), and scheduling software proficiency.
