The Tone
This is a full-time, fully onsite role at CFS, located in Mt. Vernon, OH, offering standard business hours from Monday to Friday. This Accountant position is essential for diligently handling the daily financial operations, ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting, and providing crucial support for all month-end and year-end closing activities. What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Operations: Manage all aspects of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring invoices are paid accurately and on time, and incoming payments are recorded efficiently.
• Reporting & Compliance: Prepare comprehensive journal entries, execute thorough account reconciliations, and generate precise financial statements, all while maintaining general ledger accuracy and adhering to accounting standards.
• Period-End Activities: Provide dedicated assistance with critical month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring all financial records are meticulously finalized and ready for review.
• Payroll & Tax Support: Process payroll accurately or support payroll functions as needed, in addition to preparing and filing state/local tax documents and actively assisting with any scheduled audits.
• Data Analysis & Insights: Monitor and meticulously analyze financial data to proactively identify and resolve any discrepancies, and collaborate with internal teams to provide valuable financial insights for informed decision-making.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A foundational Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field, complemented by a strong and practical understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience: A minimum of two years of hands-on accounting experience, specifically encompassing accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and comprehensive account reconciliations.
• Skills: Demonstrated proficiency with widely used accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage, advanced Microsoft Excel skills including the ability to utilize pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas, and exceptional attention to detail in all financial matters.
• Bonus: Candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related finance discipline are strongly preferred for this role.
