Lead DC Associate – 2nd Shift | White Cap

The Tone:
This is a full-time, on-site role at White Cap, located in California. The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: Full-time, 2nd Shift (3pm-11:30pm, Mon-Fri)
• Location: In-person, California
• Pay: $23.50-$32.80 hourly
• Team: Supports management by acting as the first line of assistance for associates; may lead daily operations of a department or team, training and reviewing work of junior level associates.
• Mission: Empower efficient distribution center operations by guiding and training junior associates and troubleshooting complex issues, ensuring safety and compliance.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Associate Development: Coach and train lower-level distribution center associates on proper execution of duties, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate forklifts and other heavy machinery to complete tasks such as loading, unloading, sorting, picking, stocking, staging, and transportation of goods.
• Operational Execution: Perform specialized distribution center tasks, including receiving, processing returns, managing inventory, optimizing order layout, accurate data entry, and loading trucks considering cubic weight, size, and characteristics of the load.
• Safety Assurance: Conduct safety inspections, provide essential training for all team members, enforce safety policies, manage hazardous materials, and develop emergency evacuation plans to maintain a secure work environment.
• Problem Resolution: Troubleshoot complex support or operational problems for junior level associates, independently resolving issues and developing customized solutions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Technical certification or an associate degree may be required in some areas.
• Experience: Generally 7+ years of experience in distribution center operations, with a proven background in leading staff by example, handling supervisory duties, and strong training and coaching capabilities.
• Skills: Detailed knowledge of all distribution center roles, safe operation of forklifts and other machinery, data verification and entry into systems, coaching and training, and troubleshooting complex operational problems.
• Bonus: Forklift Certification, and availability to work the 2nd shift (3pm-11:30pm, Monday-Friday).
