Materials Technician | Inova Specialty Hospital

The Tone:
This is a PRN/Per Diem position at Inova Specialty Hospital, located in Alexandria, VA. Inova Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital committed to providing world-class inpatient post-ICU services to chronic, critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. This role is crucial, as every team member plays a central role in providing compassionate, excellent care during some of the most vulnerable and painful moments of patients’ lives.

• Mission: To ensure the hospital is consistently supplied with necessary materials, accurately managed inventory, and properly processed financial documentation to support continuous patient care.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Supply Management: Stock needed daily supplies in nursing stations and meticulously process all incoming daily deliveries for the facility.
• Inventory Control: Manage inventory by continually rotating stock, maintaining adequate levels, and accurately receiving all facility supplies with proper notations on purchase orders.
• Financial Processing: Collect daily charge data and accurately enter and log all charges for each department.
• Invoice Reconciliation: Review all invoices, reconcile them with packing slips and purchase orders, verify charges for ordered and agreed rates, and code invoice line items with general ledger accounts.
• Procurement Support: Order necessary supplies and rental equipment, as well as facilitate the timely return of rental equipment.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A foundational understanding of materials management and supply chain operations, particularly within a hospital or healthcare environment.
• Experience: No specific years of experience are strictly required for the minimum qualification. However, five (5) years of experience as a Materials Technician or in Materials and Central Supplies within a hospital setting is strongly preferred.
• Skills: Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, along with accurate 10-key data entry skills are required.
• Bonus: An Associate’s degree is a preferred qualification for this role.
