Intern | Barefoot Student
The Tone:
This is a part-time internship at the Episcopal Student Center at Sam Houston State University, located in Huntsville, TX, USA. The Center builds a welcoming, inclusive community and provides ministry, programs, and hospitality for college students. This role is crucial for supporting the Center’s daily operations, programs, and communications, ensuring a vibrant and supportive environment for all students. The intern will help foster community and uphold the values of a Christian ministry that embraces people from diverse backgrounds.

• Team: Reports to the Campus Missioner, working closely with student officers, vestry, and volunteers.
• Mission: This intern will support the Center’s ministry, programs, and daily operations, ensuring a welcoming and organized environment for students.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Student Support: Help create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment, assisting students in becoming familiar with the Center and connecting with resources.
• Program Coordination: Assist with planning and carrying out weekly programs, special events, and outreach, including coordinating meals, supplies, and room arrangements.
• Communications: Help with social media posts, flyers, email announcements, and website updates to publicize events and maintain accurate contact lists.
• Administrative Assistance: Support basic office duties such as filing, copying, organizing documents, tracking attendance, and maintaining confidentiality for sensitive information.
• Facility Upkeep: Help maintain an orderly, clean, and welcoming Student Center, monitor supplies, and promptly report any maintenance or security concerns.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. The intern must respect the identity, worship, values, policies, and mission of the Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Student Center.
• Experience: No specific years required; however, applicants should be comfortable communicating with students and assisting with ministry programs and practical tasks.
• Skills: Dependability, respectful and effective communication, ability to work independently and as part of a team, organizational skills, good judgment, respect for confidentiality, comfort with diverse backgrounds, and basic computer and communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience in campus ministry, church ministry, nonprofit work, hospitality, communications, event planning, or student leadership is helpful.
