The Tone:
This is an in-person leadership role at Five Guys, a renowned fast-casual restaurant focused on delivering high-quality burgers and fries. This position is vital for maintaining operational excellence and guest satisfaction during shifts. Shift Leads are critical hands-on leaders who set the tone for every shift, ensuring the restaurant runs smoothly, the team is supported, and every guest has an impressive experience.

The TL;DR

• Team: Leads a team of crew members; operates independently when management is off-site.
• Mission: Ensures smooth restaurant operations, high service standards, and a positive team environment during their shifts.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Shift Leadership: Lead daily operations and manage the restaurant when management is not on site, setting a positive example for the team.
• Operational Versatility: Execute all front and back-of-house positions, including cashier, grill, prep, fries, and dining room, demonstrating a hands-on approach.
• Guest Experience Management: Ensure every guest receives fast, accurate service and leaves impressed by consistently creating a great experience.
• Team Empowerment: Coach, support, motivate, and assist in training new and existing crew members to foster high performance and a strong, positive team culture.
• Administrative & Compliance: Oversee daily shift tasks such as managing breaks, handling cash, completing closing reports, and maintaining the restaurant’s cleanliness, safety, and brand standards.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Leadership role in restaurant, retail, or hospitality operations.
• Experience: 1-2 years of experience in restaurant, retail, or hospitality environments. Leadership experience is preferred.
• Skills: Strong communication, ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment, basic mathematical calculations, comfort using POS systems, and a team-first mindset.
• Bonus: Food safety certification (such as ServSafe).
