1st Shift Pallet Auditor | Family Fare Supermarkets
The Tone:
This is a 1st Shift Pallet Auditor role at Family Fare Supermarkets, a part of SpartanNash, located in Byron Center, Michigan. SpartanNash is a food solutions company that distributes grocery and household goods, including fresh produce, across all 50 states to various customers from national accounts to military commissaries and their own retail stores. This role is critical for ensuring the accuracy of inventory within an ambient distribution center by meticulously auditing outbound selection pallets, thereby supporting efficient operations and customer satisfaction. The position requires consistent physical effort, including lifting and moving cases weighing 50+ pounds for 40 hours a week.
The TL;DR
• Role: Pallet Auditor
• Type: Full-time, 1st shift, four-day workweek (Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM)
• Location: In-person, Byron Center, MI
• Mission: Assure inventory accuracy within an ambient distribution center by auditing outbound selection pallets.
• Tech Stack: Warehouse Management System (WMS), Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), other system applications
What You’ll Actually Do
• Inventory Control: Support the distribution center’s inventory process through counting, auditing outgoing customer orders, and maintaining system data to ensure accuracy and compliance with procedures.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with departments such as Buying, Accounting, Shipping, Receiving, Transportation, System Administration, outside carriers, and product vendors to ensure correct and accurate inventory.
• Reporting & Analysis: Prepare inventory-related reports and verify inventory balances/records in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to identify and research shortages and discrepancies.
• Product Management: Manage the process and disposition of short-dated, aged, damaged, and salvaged products.
• Error Resolution: Identify, research, correct, and communicate receiving inventory errors to Accounting and/or the Inventory Supervisor in a timely manner.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: No specific years required. Must be able to consistently lift and move cases weighing 50+ pounds for 40 hours a week, and perform duties in a warehouse environment for 10-hour shifts.
• Skills: Good math, problem-solving, data entry, attention to detail, organization, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills. Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), ability to learn new system applications, and the ability to count inventory and research issues.
• Bonus: Prior warehouse/distribution experience.
