Director of Human Resources (HR) | Centers Health Care

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Carthage Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, located in Carthage, NY. Carthage Center is a 90-bed rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility dedicated to excellence in recovery and rehabilitation outcomes for its residents. This role ensures the critical human resources functions run smoothly, from compliance and recruitment to payroll and benefits, directly supporting the staff who deliver high-quality care and service.

• Team: Supervises front desk staff and collaborates with department heads, the Payroll Department, and the Benefits Administrator. Reports to supervisor.
• Mission: To ensure compliant, effective, and efficient human resources administration, payroll coordination, benefits management, and staff supervision within the facility.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Staffing & Scheduling: Prepare accurate and complete schedules for the nursing department while managing the facility’s overall recruitment needs, including determining open positions, screening, and interviewing applicants.
• Payroll & Benefits Coordination: Act as the primary liaison for all payroll timecards and issues between the facility and the central Payroll Department, and coordinate all employee benefits with the Benefits Administrator.
• New Hire Compliance: Ensure full compliance with Department of Labor and Department of Health regulations for all new hires, encompassing time-clock enrollment, criminal background checks, reference checks, and license verification.
• Employee Relations & Administration: Handle a comprehensive range of HR duties, including facilitating employee disciplines in collaboration with department heads, processing changes in payroll status, and managing all aspects of employee terminations, resignations, and retirements.
• Front Desk Supervision: Supervise the front desk staff, overseeing all aspects of their daily operations and ensuring efficient first-line interaction for the facility.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Director-level experience in human resources, demonstrating a strong understanding of human resource administration principles and practices.
• Experience: Significant prior experience in an HR or staffing setting, handling responsibilities across various HR functions.
• Skills: Highly developed inter-personal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, coupled with excellent communication abilities to effectively interact with staff, management, and external departments.
• Bonus: A relevant background or degree in Human Resources is strongly preferred.
