Structural Engineering Internship – Summer 2026 | AE2S (Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services, LLC)

This is a Structural Engineering Internship at AE2S (Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services, LLC), located in Rapid City, SD. AE2S is a comprehensive engineering firm that delivers critical infrastructure projects, including schools, water treatment facilities, university buildings, and various environmental structures. This internship offers a unique opportunity for aspiring structural engineers to gain invaluable hands-on experience, directly contributing to meaningful projects. What You’ll Actually Do
• Analysis: Assist with structural analysis and design calculations under the supervision of licensed engineers.
• Documentation: Help draft and review essential project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
• Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure all project goals and objectives are met.
• Site Observation: Lead construction observation activities and prepare site reports for inter-discipline projects.
• Conformance: Review construction submittals to verify their conformance with established project plans and specifications.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Candidates must have completed at least one semester towards a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
• Experience: Requires the ability to travel as needed for project requirements. Experience using industry-standard design software such as Revit and AutoCAD for design production, or structural design software like RAM, RISA, Enercalc, or Mathcad, is a strong advantage.
• Skills: A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required. Essential skills include structural analysis, design calculations, technical drafting, report writing, and effective collaboration within multidisciplinary project teams. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and strong teamwork are also key.
• Bonus: Preference will be given to candidates who have completed at least four semesters towards their bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Active participation in campus organizations and/or volunteer groups is also valued.
