The Tone:
This is an in-person role at Optical Cable Corporation, a company specializing in the manufacture of fiber optic cables and related products. This position is vital for maintaining the accuracy and compliance of financial reporting and tax matters. The Senior Staff Accountant directly supports the completion of period-end financial statements and assists with critical tax compliance activities. The role ensures that the company adheres to local, state, and federal regulations while promoting internal service excellence and quality.

• Mission: To ensure accurate and timely completion of general accounting transactions and tax compliance.
• Tech Stack: Payroll systems, Microsoft Word, Excel
What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepares assigned tax returns, tax-related schedules, and reports in compliance with regulations.
• Assists the Tax Manager with payroll matters, including reviewing payrolls and benefit submissions.
• Prepares monthly and quarterly journal entries and workpapers to support financial statements.
• Performs account reconciliations and completes assigned period-end closing tasks.
• Manages accurate, timely calculations and data collection required for financial transactions and reporting.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A four-year college degree, preferably with a focus on tax accounting or a related field.
• Experience: Two to three years of tax accounting related experience, ideally within a comparably complex multi-subsidiary accounting environment.
• Skills: Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with payroll systems, Microsoft Word, and Excel; demonstrated ability to properly compile and maintain financial data; strong organizational and time management skills with close attention to detail; excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Bonus: CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
