The TL;DR

• Mission: This person will own the development, organization, and implementation of all activity programs to meet the recreational and therapeutic needs of residents.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Leadership: Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct comprehensive activity programs for the facility’s residents.
• Policy Management: Assist in the development, administration, and coordination of departmental policies and procedures, including those for identifying medically related activity needs.
• Resident Engagement and Care: Involve residents and their families in planning facility activity programs, and participate in discharge planning, care plan development, and resident assessments.
• Community Integration: Participate in community planning initiatives that align with the facility’s interests and the diverse services and needs of residents and their families.
• Resource Coordination: Refer residents and families to appropriate social service personnel when the facility does not provide specific services, and assist in arranging necessary transportation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Certificate in a relevant field; Director level experience in recreation or activities.
• Experience: 2 years of experience in planning and directing activity programs, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting.
• Skills: Program planning and implementation, policy development and coordination, resident assessment and care planning, community engagement, and resource navigation.
