The Tone:
This is a pipeline role at Motorola Solutions, located in the Greater Chicago Area, with a hybrid work expectation of 3 days per week in the office. This Director role is crucial for architecting and executing the global sourcing strategy for critical software, cybersecurity solutions, and cloud services, directly impacting the reliability, security, and innovation of the communication systems used by police, fire, and emergency services worldwide.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategic Sourcing: Architect and drive multi-year global procurement strategies for a broad range of critical software assets including enterprise software, SaaS, cloud infrastructure, third-party embedded software, and advanced cybersecurity products/services, building a resilient and secure vendor network.
• Commercial Negotiations: Lead executive-level negotiations for highly complex agreements such as Enterprise License Agreements (ELAs), Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) subscriptions, Intellectual Property (IP) licensing, and intricate Statements of Work (SOWs) to secure favorable commercial terms, flexibility, and optimal cost.
• Risk Governance: Partner closely with Corporate Cyber Security and Risk Management teams to ensure all third-party software and security vendors rigorously adhere to Motorola Solutions’ strict security protocols, comprehensive compliance frameworks, and robust data protection standards.
• Supplier Management: Serve as the primary executive contact for strategic software, cloud, and cybersecurity vendors, proactively driving value creation, roadmap alignment, and continuous improvement through structured Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and executive steering committees.
• Financial Stewardship: Drive aggressive software spend optimization, enhance license management efficiency, and execute value engineering initiatives, consistently utilizing benchmarking and total cost of ownership (TCO) modeling to achieve sustainable value and improve product profitability.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate continuously with Product Management, R&D, Engineering, Legal, and IT leaders to seamlessly integrate third-party software and security platforms into Motorola Solutions’ product offerings and internal operations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, for a Director-level strategic leadership role in global procurement.
• Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management with a dedicated focus on software and cybersecurity procurement, demonstrating a proven track record of leading strategic initiatives and managing key executive stakeholders in high-tech, telecommunications, or safety technology environments.
• Skills: Advanced expertise in drafting and negotiating complex software, SaaS, IP, cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), and security services agreements; deep knowledge of software licensing models, cybersecurity frameworks, third-party risk management (TPRM), open-source software governance, and SaaS cost-structure modeling; exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to summarize complex commercial and technical terms for executive leadership.
• Bonus: Master’s degree or MBA preferred; proven ability to recruit, mentor, and elevate procurement talent in a fast-paced environment.
