Groundskeeping Intern | Columbus Crew

The Tone:
This is a seasonal internship at Columbus Crew, located in Columbus, OH. The Columbus Crew is a professional soccer club responsible for managing multiple sports facilities and providing engaging experiences for fans. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in professional grounds management across diverse sporting environments. The intern will contribute directly to maintaining the quality and playability of Scott’sMiracle-Gro Field, Historic Crew Stadium, and the Ohio Health Performance Center.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Maintenance: Aid in all aspects of field maintenance across Scott’sMiracle-Gro Field, Historic Crew Stadium, and the Ohio Health Performance Center.
• Agronomy: Gain exposure to agronomic practices, including planning and implementation techniques.
• Technology: Learn about advanced field management technologies such as synthetic turf, grow lighting, glycol field heating, and Subair systems.
• Match Operations: Assist in grounds operations specifically for Columbus Crew home matches.
• Event Support: Provide support for grounds operations during special events, including concerts.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Must be an active college student or a recent graduate.
• Experience: None specified beyond academic status.
• Skills:
• Ability to lift and maneuver a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders, carry, walk, sit, push, pull, and move continuously during work hours.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Bonus: Preferably pursuing or holding a degree in a turf-related field.
