This role is essential to maintaining community trust and civic engagement by assisting in the planning, organizing, and administering of all local elections. The Deputy Director of Elections ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws, which is critical for a safe, vibrant, and growing region.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Election Management: Assist the Director of Elections and Chief Deputy Director of Elections in planning, organizing, and administering all local elections, ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
• Voter Record Maintenance: Oversee all voter registration activities and meticulously maintain accurate voter records.
• Logistical Coordination: Support the preparation and distribution of ballots and election materials, coordinate polling place logistics, and assist with the recruitment and training of election officers.
• Operational Oversight: Help manage the complexities of early voting and Election Day operations, collaborating with other county departments and external agencies to ensure secure and accessible election processes.
• Public Support & Compliance: Respond promptly to voter inquiries, prepare required reports and documentation, support public information efforts, and assist in certifying election results with the Department of Elections.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Requires a comprehensive understanding of county government functions, political and election law, processes, and procedures. This includes the ability to develop comprehensive operational plans that ensure elections are administered in compliance with all State and Federal election laws, along with an appreciation for government, history, and business contexts.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience in organizational and office management tasks. Proven ability to work with confidential information, operate computer and office machinery, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically mail merge and Excel, as well as Google Spreadsheets.
• Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking, for clear and effective communication with voters, staff, and the public.
• Bonus: Proven analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex situations or problems and offer effective solutions tailored to the needs and resources of the office. The ability to efficiently navigate the State Board of Election website is also a plus.
