General Manager II – Store 6716 Rome, NY | Advance Auto Parts
The Tone:
This is a full-time management role at Advance Auto Parts, located in Rome, NY. Advance Auto Parts is dedicated to inspiring its team, helping its Customers succeed, and growing the business with integrity. This position is a professional-level sales and management role, responsible for supporting functions on both sides of the business while achieving financial metrics and maintaining service and appearance standards. The role requires commitment to an average schedule of 5-6 days a week, 11-hour shifts, including rotating nights and weekends.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Sales & Service: Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives for both DIY and Professional Customers, ensuring high service and appearance standards.
• Customer Relationships: Manage and grow Professional Customer relationships and program sales, including building and holding the team accountable to executing Customer action plans.
• Team Leadership: Oversee selection, hiring, development, performance management, coaching, scheduling, and engagement of store Team Members, fostering a respectful and diverse environment.
• Operational Oversight: Ensure the execution of all inventory and operational standards, including manager on duty responsibilities like floor/phone management, task assignment, and safety protocols.
• Performance Coaching: Coach all Team Members to consistently deliver on Customer expectations for both DIY and Professional segments, and execute / train on project and product quality recommendations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager level, with a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required, alongside a strong understanding of store systems, automotive systems, and extensive parts knowledge.
• Experience: 2-3 years managing a team of 10-20 Team Members in a fast-paced retail environment, demonstrating successful experience managing profitability and proven financial and business acumen. This role requires working a minimum of 50-55 hours per week, including rotating nights and weekends.
• Skills: Ability to speak and write English effectively, communicate and build strong relationships with Customers, peers and upper management, use Microsoft Word and Excel, calculate figures and amounts (discounts, percentages, sales increases, gross profit percent), review and analyze business reports (P&L), hold others accountable, inspect work quality and give inspiring feedback, and locate/source parts from various places including special order.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s degree in business or a related area, working knowledge of automotive systems, Spanish language ability, Microsoft PowerPoint proficiency, and/or ASE certification (or ASE P2 certified or ASE ready equivalent).
