Summer Intern – Operations | Hanes Companies, Inc

The Tone:
This is a temporary internship at Hanes Companies, Inc, located in Conover, NC. This role offers the opportunity to support the company by assisting with process improvement, operational analysis, and hands-on projects across the facility. The intern will gain valuable exposure to operations, continuous improvement, and workflow optimization within a manufacturing environment.

• Mission: This intern will support operations by identifying improvement opportunities and optimizing workflows within a manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operational Analysis: Identify top downtime drivers by machine group or department and determine their root causes.
• Process Optimization: Review customer programs with complex special instructions, map current-state processes, and recommend improvements.
• Workspace Management: Support machine-level 6S improvements, including workspace organization, labeling, and productivity enhancements.
• Data Analysis & Planning: Conduct warehouse time studies to support new code layout planning and update machine wrap files to improve accuracy of standards.
• Performance Improvement: Identify top downtime codes and help create action plans for overall operational enhancement.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Demonstrated interest in operations, manufacturing, or process improvement.
• Experience: Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and willingness to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, strong communication skills, and attention to detail.
