The Tone
This is a Part Time position at Diocese of San Diego, located in Escondido, CA, at St. Mary Preschool. The Diocese oversees Catholic schools, providing an educational foundation rooted in faith and values. This role is crucial for assisting in the general supervision and management of children aged two to five, supporting their development and upholding the school’s philosophy within a nurturing learning environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support Classroom Instruction: Assist the preschool teacher in supervising and implementing the daily program for children aged two to five, ensuring alignment with the policies and philosophy of the Diocese of San Diego.
• Foster Individual Development: Honor the unique needs of each child, considering their interests, special needs, talents, learning style, and cultural background, while treating them with dignity and respect.
• Maintain a Nurturing Environment: Collaborate with the preschool teacher to ensure the classroom’s ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, and overall learning environment are conducive to child development.
• Engage with the School Community: Actively participate in various school public relations events, including Back to School Night, Christmas programs, and fundraisers, and communicate weekly classroom updates to parents via Class Dojo.
• Ensure Administrative Compliance: Manage and return voice-mail/e-mail messages promptly within 24 hours on weekdays, submit assessment data, and maintain strict confidentiality regarding all student, parent, and staff information.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Completion of at least 6 Early Childhood Education (ECE) Units is required, or completion of 2 ECE units with active enrollment in a current ECE class to complete the 6 units.
• Experience: Prior experience teaching children, or a demonstrated desire to teach and model Catholic values within a preschool setting.
• Skills: Ability to assist in the general supervision and management of children aged two to five, effective communication with parents and staff (including timely email/voicemail responses), maintaining a neat and orderly classroom, and observing strict confidentiality.
• Certifications: Must obtain Fingerprint and CMG Background Clearance, CPR and First Aid certifications, and a cleared TB test upon hire to work in a Licensed Child Care Facility.
