Volo Kids – PT Nonprofit Accountant | Volo Sports
The Tone:
This is a part-time role at Volo Sports, located in Baltimore, MD. The Volo Kids Foundation builds free organized sports programs that remove barriers to athletic participation, fostering communities of active, resilient, and confident kids across multiple cities. This role is crucial for maintaining the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the Foundation, directly supporting its mission by ensuring smooth financial processes and compliance. The incoming accountant’s work ensures the continued ability to serve thousands of children nationwide through the power of play.

• Mission: Owns maintaining financial operations, supporting reporting processes, and leading annual financial statement audits and tax filings to ensure business-wide success.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Maintain Financial Operations: Utilize financial and accounting platforms including Quickbooks, Stripe, and Bill.com to process and monitor Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Manage Payroll & Compliance: Process payroll and associated reporting for all part-time and full-time employees, along with outside contractors, while maintaining compliance with City, State, and Federal legal and business registrations.
• Prepare Financial Reports: Prepare monthly reconciliation and reporting documents, and oversee the preparation of income statements.
• Lead Audit & Tax Filings: Facilitate the annual financial audit and 990 tax filings in collaboration with Foundation leadership and an external audit firm.
• Support Funding Efforts: Provide all necessary financial paperwork for grant and funding initiatives, including expenditure reports and month-end and year-end close documentation.

• Background: Professional experience as an accountant with a strong understanding of nonprofit financial operations.
• Experience: Practical experience maintaining financial operations, supporting payroll, managing monthly reporting processes, and facilitating annual financial statement audits and tax filings.
• Skills: Proficiency in financial and accounting platforms such as Quickbooks, Stripe, and Bill.com, along with skills in AP/AR processing, payroll management, financial reconciliation, and preparing income statements and tax filings (990).
