The Tone:
This is a direct supervision role at Mattoon Area Family YMCA, located in the Cumberland/Neoga Mattoon Area. The Mattoon Area Family YMCA provides a quality experience for children and parents, centered on core values such as honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. This role is crucial for ensuring children in remote learning and before and after school programs receive attentive supervision and engage in planned, enriching activities. The individual in this position directly contributes to fostering a positive and values-driven environment for program participants and supports a cohesive team.

• Team: Leads program staff and reports to the Senior Program Director.
• Mission: To provide direct supervision and a quality, values-focused experience for children participating in remote learning and before/after school programs.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Development: Develop and plan engaging activities for children in remote learning and days out programs.
• Resource Management: Ensure all necessary supplies are available, create and submit supply order lists, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of program spaces.
• Staff Leadership: Lead program staff, hold them accountable to program rules and expectations, and assist in conducting staff meetings and trainings.
• Communication & Support: Maintain consistent communication within the team regarding daily plans, establish positive relationships with students, guardians, staff, and school administration, and support staff during stressful or unusual situations.
• Program Improvement: Perform additional duties as needed or directed to enhance the overall quality and effectiveness of the program.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity within a childcare or youth program setting, providing direct supervision to children.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience in program activity planning and execution, as well as maintaining organized program environments.
• Skills: Strong leadership abilities to guide and ensure accountability of staff, effective interpersonal communication with diverse stakeholders, and robust organizational skills for managing supplies and program spaces.
