Engineering Intern | FloWorks
The Tone:
This is an internship at McKenna Engineering, a subsidiary of FloWorks, located in California. McKenna Engineering provides high-quality process engineering equipment and expert services, including design, integration, fabrication, installation, and repair, serving clients across the United States and globally. This role supports the engineering team by contributing to the design, analysis, and integration of complex systems and equipment. The intern will gain practical experience in engineering fundamentals, CAD design, and project execution, directly impacting the delivery of essential engineering solutions.
The TL;DR

• Mission: Support engineering efforts by contributing to the design, analysis, and integration of systems and equipment.
• Tech Stack: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook), Gantt charts.
What You’ll Actually Do
• System Design: Assist with the comprehensive design and integration of various critical systems, including pumps, compressors, vacuum systems, pneumatic conveying systems, and complex piping systems.
• CAD Development: Utilize industry-standard CAD software, such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, to create and modify detailed engineering drawings and designs.
• Engineering Analysis: Perform technical calculations and apply engineering principles to support projects related to pump hydraulics, gas compression, and vacuum applications.
• Project Coordination: Support the development of project plans and schedules, including the use of Gantt charts, and assist with small-scale projects and problem-solving initiatives.
• Documentation & Communication: Prepare and update essential engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports, while communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or a closely related Engineering field, demonstrating a strong aptitude in core engineering fundamentals, mathematics, and physics. This is an entry-level internship position.
• Experience: Proficiency or familiarity with CAD software, specifically AutoCAD and SolidWorks, is required, along with practical command of Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Skills: Possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, coupled with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
• Bonus: A basic understanding of pump hydraulics, pneumatic systems, and piping design is preferred, and familiarity with Gantt chart workflows would be a distinct advantage.
