Assistant Residence Manager | The New York Foundling
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at The New York Foundling, located in New York, NY. The New York Foundling is a New York-based nonprofit that supports hundreds of thousands of neighbors on their paths to stability, strength, and independence, helping children and families, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those needing health and mental health services. This role is crucial in supporting the daily operations of an Intermediate Residential Alternative (IRA) facility, ensuring quality care and a safe environment for individuals with developmental disabilities. The Assistant Residence Manager plays a key part in staff supervision and regulatory compliance, directly contributing to the well-being and personalized growth of those supported.

• Team: Supports the Resident Manager, assumes oversight in manager’s absence
• Mission: Ensures quality care and safety for individuals with developmental disabilities in residential settings.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage: Oversee IRA operations and assume facility oversight in the Resident Manager’s absence.
• Lead: Participate in DSP orientation, supervision, and evaluation, and coordinate staff schedules, verify hours, and manage sick leave.
• Coach: Monitor staff performance and provide consistent feedback on the implementation of individualized service, treatment, and person-centered plans.
• Support: Facilitate medical and clinical care, plans, and data for all persons supported, including follow-ups on notations and assisting in developing staff action plans.
• Ensure Compliance: Monitor and maintain adherence to program regulations, policies, and standards to uphold quality care and safety for persons supported.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager career level. High School Diploma or GED, with core domain knowledge in understanding the unique needs and best practices for individuals with developmental disabilities and person-centered planning.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of progressive experience in residential services. Must possess a valid NY/NJ/CT/PA Driver’s License with 6 months of experience and 6 or fewer points.
• Skills: Proficiency in budget management, strong verbal and written communication skills, crisis management abilities, and accurate documentation and record-keeping.
• Bonus: Supervisory experience in residential services is a plus.
