Intern, Operations | JFK International Air Terminal

The Tone:
This is an internship at JFK International Air Terminal, located in Jamaica, NY. JFK International Air Terminal operates a major air travel hub, facilitating millions of passenger journeys annually. This critical role supports the seamless flow of passengers through security, customs, and check-in areas. The intern contributes directly to maintaining a safe, efficient, and customer-focused airport environment, coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure operational excellence.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations Management: Manage passenger queues and flow at security checkpoints, customs, and check-in areas, ensuring continuous movement, social distancing, and crowd control.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as a primary liaison, communicating effectively with airline partners and government agencies to support smooth operations.
• Incident Response: Respond to operational incidents or accidents, conduct initial investigations, and prepare necessary reports to document events.
• Customer Experience: Provide direct customer service and actively promote a safe and orderly environment for all passengers and airport personnel.
• Terminal Oversight: Monitor and coordinate various functions related to landside terminal operations, managing daily operational plans and communications.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Current student enrolled and attending classes at a college or university.
• Experience: No prior professional experience required, but demonstrated computer competency and an ability to learn new Information Technology (IT) systems are essential.
• Skills: Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, capacity to function effectively under stressful conditions, strong written and verbal communication, proactive and self-motivating approach, and administrative skills for timely follow-up and reporting.
• Bonus: Preferred candidates are students in their junior or senior academic year.
