Store Executive Intern | Target

The Tone:
This is a paid 40 hr/week internship at Target, located in Bay Area, CA, starting Summer 2027. Target is a company focused on helping all families discover the joy of everyday life through its values and culture. This internship provides a hands-on training program designed to develop future store leaders, offering a realistic preview of the Executive Team Leader (Assistant Store Manager) role and impacting store performance and guest experience.

• Pay: $31.25–$33.25 hourly
• Team: Works closely with other managers and team members, mentored by an Executive Team Lead.
• Mission: To learn and lead retail operations, drive guest experience, and impact store financial, team, and operational performance.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Lead: Spend time on the salesfloor and in the backroom, guiding team members and aligning on daily business priorities.
• Mentor: Work alongside an Executive Team Lead (ETL) mentor and other leaders to understand their roles and departmental operations.
• Develop: Lead and support daily operations by collaborating with team members to build culture and achieve goals.
• Analyze: Review business reporting and guest insights to understand, troubleshoot, and follow up on opportunity areas.
• Serve: Deliver an exceptional guest experience by ensuring team members are knowledgeable and empowered to resolve guest needs.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Strong interest in working in retail store management.
• Experience: Previous retail experience preferred, but not required; demonstrated leadership skills and team-oriented thinking.
• Skills: Guest service fundamentals, retail business fundamentals, team motivation, effective communication, problem-solving and resolution.
• Bonus: Ability to work a flexible schedule with varying hours, days or shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
