Litigation Paralegal | Dine Brands Global

The Tone:
This is a hybrid role at Dine Brands Global, located in Pasadena, California. Dine Brands Global is one of the largest full-service restaurant companies in the world, supporting and operating over 3,500 restaurants across 20 international markets under the Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill + Bar®, IHOP®, and Fuzzy’s Taco Shop® brands. In 2022, the company expanded into the Fast Casual segment, demonstrating its continued growth and presence in the global restaurant industry. This role is crucial for assisting attorneys with a broad spectrum of dispute-related matters, including demands, subpoenas, and various regulatory, administrative, state, federal, and arbitration actions. The paralegal will also play a key part in supporting various compliance functions related to human resources, data privacy, and government affairs, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to legal standards.

The TL;DR

• Pay: $70000–$80000 yearly
• Mission: This person will primarily assist attorneys with a wide range of dispute-related matters and support various compliance functions.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Matter Administration: Conduct intake, docketing, calendaring, and track deadlines for a variety of dispute-related matters, while also assisting with data reporting and management.
• Discovery Management: Administer legal holds and prepare for discovery proceedings, which includes managing the collection of relevant documents.
• Legal Communications: Draft letters and other legal correspondences, ensuring professional and accurate communication.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with internal teams, such as Risk Management, and engage professionally with franchisees and other stakeholders to manage matters.
• Broader Legal Support: Provide support to attorneys in other practice areas, including franchising and corporate transactional matters, assisting with document preparation, due diligence, and corporate governance.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Paralegal Certificate or a Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal environment.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of applicable paralegal experience, with the majority of that experience focused on litigation matters.
• Skills: Proficient in technology platforms including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and various data management tools; strong organizational, problem-solving, and administrative skills with a detail-oriented approach; excellent communication (speaking, writing, and listening) skills; ability to multi-task, manage multiple projects efficiently, and work independently to follow projects through to completion.
• Bonus: Franchise experience is a plus; Notary public or willingness to become a notary public for the company.
