Paralegal – Trademarks | Formica Group North America

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Formica Group North America, located at its North American headquarters in Cincinnati, OH. Formica Corporation is the maker of the world-famous Formica® brand of laminate products and a leading worldwide designer and manufacturer of decorative surfacing materials for commercial and residential interior surfaces. • Mission: This person will be entirely responsible for all facets of domestic and international trademark filings, prosecution, renewals, and maintenance.
• Tech Stack: MS Office products, Corsearch, CPI, Anaqua, LawTrac, LegalTracker

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage: Lead all facets of domestic and international trademark filings, prosecution, renewals, and maintenance, including correspondence, docketing, and deadlines.
• Analyze: Conduct and review trademark searches, preparing usage and registration risk analyses to align trademark strategies with business goals.
• Enforce: Monitor and take action on incorrect and infringing trademark use, including domain names, and evaluate/renew domain names quarterly.
• Collaborate: Interact extensively with foreign associates on various trademark issues and assist marketing with reviewing materials for branding standards.
• Administer: Prepare, authenticate, and legalize supporting trademark documentation, manage invoices from foreign associates, and prepare license/trademark usage agreements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate’s degree required, strong knowledge of both domestic and international trademark prosecution processes, and at least 10 years of experience as an intellectual property paralegal.
• Experience: At least 10 years focused primarily on trademark law in a law firm or corporate legal department, familiarity with trademark docketing software (CPI or Anaqua), and electronic billing systems (LawTrac or LegalTracker).
• Skills: Ability to work independently, multitask, detail-oriented, excellent verbal and written communication, strong proofreading skills, and advanced computer skills with MS Office products and Corsearch.
• Bonus: An undergraduate degree and certification of paralegal training from an ABA-certified program, Anaqua and LegalTracker experience, and general knowledge of patent prosecution processes and maintenance.
