Paralegal/Legal Assistant | Patterson & O’Neill, PC

The TL;DR

• Team: Supports the firm’s clients and attorneys, working under the supervision of the firm’s shareholders.
• Mission: Manages critical administrative and litigation support tasks to ensure efficient firm operations and client service.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Calendars and Deadlines: Maintain attorneys’ calendars and meticulously track all litigation deadlines to ensure timely compliance.
• Process Filings: File documents accurately and efficiently in courts across California, adhering to all legal procedures.
• Facilitate Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, potential clients, and various government agencies, managing correspondence and inquiries.
• Draft and Finalize Documents: Prepare, format, proofread, and finalize a variety of legal and administrative documents, ensuring accuracy and professional presentation.
• Provide Operational Support: Deliver comprehensive administrative assistance, manage vendor relationships, implement new systems and procedures, and oversee special projects as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience, combined with prior experience working as a paralegal or legal assistant.
• Experience: Demonstrate substantial experience with litigation filings in a legal setting, along with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities to meet deadlines.
• Skills: Exhibit strong organizational skills, careful attention to detail, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, excellent written and verbal communication, and strong interpersonal skills for client and team interactions. This role requires the ability to work independently, take initiative, collaborate effectively, and exercise sound judgment when handling confidential information.
• Bonus: A paralegal certificate is a desirable qualification for this position.
