Litigation Legal Assistant | D3 Search

The Tone:
This is a full-time, direct-hire role at a highly respected CA-based regional law practice, located in Los Angeles, CA. The firm operates with a tiered hybrid work model. This critical position supports shareholders and senior attorneys, providing essential legal, administrative, and document processing services to ensure the efficient functioning of the public law and litigation practice departments.

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Type: Full-time/direct-hire employment. 37.5-hour week. Non-exempt role (OT in accordance w/ CA laws).
• Location: Hybrid, Los Angeles, CA 90071. The firm offers a tiered hybrid work model: fully onsite for the first 30 days, 4 days in/1 day remote for the next 30 days, transitioning to 3 days in/2 days remote after six months.
• Pay: $105000 yearly (DOE/DOQ)
• Team: Supports four or more attorneys (shareholders & senior attorneys) in the public law & litigation practice departments.
• Mission: Provides a wide range of legal, administrative, and document processing services for public law & litigation practice departments.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook), DocuSign (preferred), document management systems, other office technologies.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage: Phone lines for supported attorneys, fielding calls, scheduling, and initiating conference calls.
• Prepare: Agendas, reports, and various other legal and administrative documents.
• Maintain: Legal files (both paper & electronic), organizing documents, and processing legal and administrative correspondence.
• Process: Time entries, new matter openings, engagement letters, reimbursement expenses, and audit responses.
• Coordinate: Document deliveries and track final executed documentation, while communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and courts.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Preferred Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience; possesses a background supporting litigation & public law attorneys in either a law firm or corporate legal department setting.
• Experience: Prior experience working in a business law practice with exposure to litigation & public law areas; substantive Federal & State e-filing experience.
• Skills: Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and document management systems; strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage time effectively; high standards of professionalism, including maintaining confidentiality and using good judgment.
• Bonus: Appellate experience; knowledge of DocuSign; exceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quickly.
