Finance Intern | NorthBay Health
The Tone:
This is a temporary internship opportunity, lasting 8-12 weeks, within the Corporate Finance department at NorthBay Health, an organization primarily based onsite in Fairfield, CA. NorthBay Health operates as an independent, nonprofit health system, extending advanced care services across the Napa, Solano, and Yolo County regions, which includes two acute-care hospitals, a Level II Trauma Center, a Level III NICU, a cancer center, urgent care locations, and a growing network of primary and specialty care clinics. This internship is specifically designed as a comprehensive learning and exposure experience for the intern, providing access to real-life business situations and allowing them to contribute meaningfully to work products. The role is instrumental in fostering an understanding of healthcare operations, strategic initiatives, and the continuity of service within a large health system.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Observe: Engage in detailed observation and continuous learning from operation’s workers and management, spending time with major departmental areas to understand processes and execution.
• Collaborate: Actively share acquired knowledge and experiences with colleagues, fostering collaborative interdisciplinary relationships within the department.
• Assist: Provide support for various projects, participate in assigned work-groups, and contribute to activities and initiatives related to operations practice, including supporting strategic service line needs.
• Participate: Attend relevant departmental and strategic meetings as requested, gaining exposure to discussions on continuity of service, compliance, regulatory, and professional standards.
• Present: Prepare and deliver a presentation to the department team or leader at the conclusion of the internship, summarizing key learnings and takeaways from the overall experience.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level position requiring enrollment and completion of at least one year of study towards a Baccalaureate Degree, or completion of a Baccalaureate Degree, with a preference for Healthcare Administration or Business Administration Management.
• Experience: No prior experience is required for this role.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational and time management abilities; critical thinking and openness to learning; highly collaborative with a willingness to assume new responsibilities and accept accountability.
• Bonus: Completion of a Baccalaureate Degree in Healthcare Administration or Business Administration Management.
