Legal Intern (Spring 2027) | Addison Group
The Tone:
This is a contract internship at Addison Group, located in Washington, DC (Hybrid). The client is a well-established national membership organization representing professionals within a highly regulated industry. This role offers aspiring legal professionals a crucial opportunity to gain meaningful exposure to a variety of corporate legal functions, working alongside an experienced and collaborative legal team. Interns will contribute to providing guidance on contracts, intellectual property, compliance, policy development, and regulatory matters within the organization.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage intellectual property documentation, including assisting with trademark, copyright, filings, and record management.
• Review routine legal agreements such as non-disclosure agreements, service agreements, amendments, and statements of work.
• Conduct legal research on federal and state laws, regulations, and emerging legal developments.
• Draft legal materials including research summaries, policy documents, and memoranda.
• Support legislative and regulatory monitoring efforts by tracking proposed state actions and preparing briefing materials.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree at an accredited law school in their 2L year, with a bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience: No specific years of experience are listed, but candidates must be currently pursuing a JD degree in their 2L year. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 is required.
• Skills: Strong legal research, analytical, and legal writing abilities; excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
• Bonus: Previous legal internship, law clerk, or summer associate experience; exposure to contracts, corporate law, intellectual property, or transactional legal work; experience with contract lifecycle management software (e.g., Ironclad); familiarity with intellectual property management platforms (e.g., Alt Legal or Corsearch).
