Power Market Finance Analyst | Kiewit

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Kiewit, headquartered in Lenexa, KS, but requiring travel and relocation to project sites. Kiewit is a prominent construction and engineering firm, building major EPC and bid-build natural gas power plants, solar fields, nuclear facilities, energy storage systems, and extensive power delivery infrastructure across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Financial Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the business management of diverse projects, from $1 million to $4 billion, by ensuring robust accounting practices, cost control, and financial forecasting. This position contributes significantly to the company’s operational efficiency and financial stability.

• Mission: Support project accounting and finance functions, ensuring accurate cost control, payroll, and financial reporting for construction projects.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Support project operations by adapting to project needs and collaborating with the Operations team.
• Manage payroll and human resources processes, including employee hiring, transfer, termination, and compensation.
• Administer accounts payable and purchasing workflows, ensuring proper controls and troubleshooting payment or vendor issues.
• Oversee intercompany and client billing processes, focusing on timely and accurate documentation to optimize cash management.
• Analyze and adjust cost reports, quantity claiming, budget structures, and exception reports to ensure precise financial reporting for management.
• Identify, adjust, and review forecast and budget issues within cost reports to confirm proper recognition of cost and revenue.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Management, or an equivalent degree.
• Experience: 0-2 years of financial/data analysis experience.
• Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; effective communication (both oral and written), organization, and interpersonal skills; good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies; ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
• Bonus: Ability to travel and/or relocate as required; previous internship experience; experience working with Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups, and other key excel functions.
