The Tone:
This is an Associate position at Stifel Financial Corp., a full-service investment bank offering securities brokerage, trading, research, underwriting, and corporate advisory services globally. With over 600 bankers, the company focuses on building long-term trust with its clients. This role is crucial as the Associate acts as the keystone of project teams, leading deal processes and mentoring junior staff, which directly contributes to providing solutions for Stifel’s clients’ evolving needs.

The TL;DR
• Role: Early Career
• Pay: $175000–$225000 yearly
• Team: Small, client-focused teams within the Corporate Finance and M&A disciplines, taking guidance from senior bankers and managing and mentoring Analysts.
• Mission: Acts as the keystone of all project teams, managing and mentoring junior staff to drive successful M&A and corporate finance transactions for clients.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Management: Manage the deal process from origination to close as the project manager for client teams.
• Financial Modeling: Develop integrated financial models and conduct related valuation analyses for various transactions.
• Transaction Execution: Participate actively in M&A, corporate finance, and restructuring assignments.
• Documentation & Analysis: Prepare valuations, draft memorandums for M&A and private placements, and support due diligence for public and private offerings.
• Team Leadership: Mentor junior staff and identify areas for their professional development within project teams.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field; Manager career level.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of post-undergraduate work experience in investment banking or a related field, with proven ability to manage financing and M&A transactions from start to finish.
• Skills: Excellent analytical, modeling, and client management skills, strong ability to work in an entrepreneurial culture, and sound judgment in assessing new business opportunities.
