Law Clerk – Intern | Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas

The Tone:

What You’ll Actually Do
• Research: Conduct legal and regulatory research across areas such as health and life insurance law, employment law, administrative law, contractual matters, and current litigation.
• Summarize: Prepare factual summaries of complex legal matters for review by in-house attorneys.
• Participate: Attend meetings with in-house counsel to develop a broad understanding of company operations and legal contexts.
• Present: Assist in-house attorneys with presentations on various regulatory and legal matters.
• Uphold: Maintain confidentiality of client information and adhere to the ethical standards of the legal profession.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrollment in an accredited law school program with a strong academic record, complemented by a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates should possess the ability to critically read and interpret legal documents, statutes, and regulations.
• Experience: No specific prior law clerk experience is required for this role.
• Skills: Proficient in utilizing legal research tools such as Westlaw and Lexis Nexis, skilled in using Microsoft Office suite, able to effectively use logic and reasoning to identify solutions, and skilled in clear written and oral communication.
• Bonus: Prior law clerk experience is preferred.
