Start Up Acquisition Analyst | Scallaner Partners, LLC

The Tone:
This is a full-time, on-site role at Scallaner Partners, LLC, located in the Greater Minneapolis–St. Paul Area. Scallaner Partners is a growing investment firm focused on identifying, acquiring, and scaling promising start-ups and emerging businesses. The firm emphasizes data-driven decision making and long-term value creation. This role is crucial for supporting the firm’s core acquisition activities, contributing directly to its growth and the success of its portfolio companies.

• Mission: This role supports the full lifecycle of start-up acquisitions, from sourcing opportunities through closing and initial integration, to drive the firm’s investment strategy.
• Tech Stack: Excel, PowerPoint, research tools; CRM or deal-tracking software

What You’ll Actually Do
• Market Research: Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and industry trend assessments to identify promising acquisition opportunities.
• Data Analysis: Analyze financial and operational data to evaluate potential investment targets and inform decision-making.
• Investment Memos: Prepare comprehensive investment memos and communicate findings clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
• Due Diligence: Assist with due diligence activities across legal, financial, and commercial dimensions for potential acquisitions.
• Deal Structuring: Collaborate with senior team members to evaluate deal structures and develop strategic recommendations for transactions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field, with core domain knowledge in investment analysis.
• Experience: Prior experience (preferred) in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, corporate development, or management consulting. Demonstrated knowledge of acquisitions processes, including due diligence, valuation concepts, and transaction structuring for start-ups or small businesses.
• Skills: Strong analytical skills, including financial modeling, data analysis, and problem-solving capabilities. Effective written and verbal communication skills to present complex information clearly. Program management abilities to organize workstreams and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
• Bonus: Advanced coursework or certifications in investment analysis are a plus, and familiarity with CRM or deal-tracking software is beneficial.
